There are so many people claiming to be experts at seo techniques out there you simply do not know what to believe, people are stating how to easily rank on Google and pull in hundreds or thousands of search visitors everyday. The truth is there are hundreds of factors that go into thorough search engine optimisation and there are probably around twenty that can really be measured and implemented successfully.

On the other hand you cannot help but read about ranking factors that simply do not sound right and it’s these SEO myths I would like to talk about today. You see search engine optimisation is a little mystical but only because people come up with nonsense theories that confuse those trying to learn solid SEO, these are a few of the main myths I personally come across.

Do you use webmaster tools? Has your site been verified? If not your going to suffer in Google’s rankings apparently, what do you think? If your think yes this sounds true, hold on. This is probably one of the biggest ranking myths around, I have optimised hundreds of sites, some with webmaster tools, others without and it has not made a bit of difference to the campaign.

The one that really bugs me is HTML validation to W3C standards, yes it is good practice to keep your pages as clean as possible to ensure Google.bot can find all that juicy content, but will it effect how high you rank in Google? Not likely, even Blogger a Google owned blog platform cannot even be bothered to validate their templates, why? Because it really does not matter, as long as Google can follow links to find your content there really isn’t an issue.

Some people have tried to state that spelling and grammar may be used as quality signal in Google’s algorithm, again I have seen zero evidence of this, although do admit it may be something Google look at as they tighten their algorithm but it certainly holds no weight at the minute, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to rank a site for a common misspelling.

Lastly there has been talk that the number of domain queries to your site may indicate popularity signals, however the problem with this theory is that it is too easy to manipulate it. I think domain queries no matter how diverse has little impact on where your site actually ranks. If you have been worrying about the above myths in the past, now is the time to stop and focus on the more crucial aspects of search engine optimisation.

There are hundreds of different SEO techniques being used on the internet all with one single aim, to be number one on Google for a given keyword or phrase. It is true that 47% of Google traffic click on the number one position, but this does not automatically make it the most profitable position to be in. If your site lacks in certain ways that traffic will simply click the back button and find another site that is better tailored to the search query.

There are a number of things to think about besides getting a top position on Google. If were selling a product we first need to make sure our keyword research is relevant and focused. We need to make sure the site is attractive and encourages interaction, all these elements go into making Google traffic profitable.

A big part of ensuring you maximise click through rates is by building your brand. One of the best ways to do this is by becoming involved in social networking groups and participating in industry specific events. Familiarity with a given brand can be the difference between a click and miss.

Even though Meta descriptions no longer hold any weight with the search engines it is still a good idea to pay a little attention to them. If you were running an adwords campaign you would want your ad copy to be compelling and catchy. You should view your meta description the same way ensuring you make maximum benefit of keywords, attracting the attention of the searcher.

Business listings are another great way to drive the maximum amount of traffic to your site. A business listing builds brand and trust, if a searcher finds your site within Google’s business listing they are more likely to visit and trust the information on the site. Google also uses business listings within general search, if they feel it is relevant to the searcher. Not completing a listing is a missed opportunity of driving highly targeted traffic to your site.

Getting a high Google listing is only half of the puzzle, your site needs to look professional otherwise those visitors will do nothing for you. Your keywords need to be focused and precise, be sure to test different keywords on new pages and use Google optimizer to discover which landing pages result in the best conversion rates. By implementing the above you are maximising the amount of qualified traffic that hits your site.

Google generates web traffic at least five times more than any other web engine. This is why Google SEO is so popular as it holds the potential of driving vast amounts of traffic to your site. The goal of search engine optimisation is not only to get good rankings in search engines but to get clicks from targeted customers.

With Google search engine optimisation the websites would come up in the search result of Google search engine with targeted keywords that are relevant to the website. There are certain tips and techniques in optimizing the website and staying ahead of the competitor.

If one does not want too many competitors from other companies then they should choose the keyword precisely. It is important to use specific keywords instead of using general keywords. The order of the keyword also matters in Google search engine optimisation. For example for a company providing loans, using keywords like bank loan and equity loan it is more important just using the loan keyword.

It is considered a best practice to include at least one keyword in the domain name of the website. One can use hyphens in order to separate multiple keywords. The second keyword can be contained in the directory name and file name. For example if SEO is the main keyword and free tips is secondary the keyword then the website name can be, depending upon availability seoservice.com/freetips.

It is an important tip to keep the webpage free from any syntax errors as Google search engine does not like webpages with too many errors. Another important tip is to include as many important keyword phrases in the heading tag of the website and also specifying Meta keywords in the heading of the document.

It is important that one uses the most popular keywords in hyper linked text that link back to their pages and can also make use of synonyms of the keyword in some places. For example if SEO is the keyword then making use of search engine optimisation sometimes should be done. When implementing SEO you should also be mindful of using too many images or java, this is due to the fact that search engines struggle to read these types of content, raw HTML is the best form of web content.

There are some quality sites online for you to read about using Google SEO to optimise and enhance the visibility of your site online. Google seo involves a great deal of patience and results will only be seen after months of hard work, however the investment is worth the wait.

Google SEO is really quite simple, all you need to do is get completely clear about 1 principal. That principle is learning how the major search engines view your pages, do this and your half way to mastering on page optimisation.

I have been an SEO now for over 5 years and if there was one thing I would want any optimiser to remember it is this, search engines rank pages not sites. When you are optimising your pages don’t try and cram every single keyword into your home page. Pick a keyword and optimise one page per keyword. Also use the keyword in the URL of the page. This will increase your page relevancy and push your site up the serps. When Google shows a page in it’s index it does not simply use the root domain to advertise each page, it uses the full page url.

Another aspect of search engine optimisation that people struggle with is the aspect of images and how the major search engines use them to rank pages. Search engines do not read images as a rule, however if your image is in HTML simply use the ALT tag to tell the search spider what text the image represents. No search spider can read javascript so keep these images to an absolute minimum or use a subdomain to host the image.

As a rule search spiders will only read a certain amount of anyone page. For example GoogleBot will only read 100kb of any page. It is useful to know this when filling your header tag. Do not over load it with code, as this may mean the spiders miss some keyword rich content from the bottom of your page. Remember a search spider is simply a computer program and has to guess the topic of your site based on the information it can gather.

When it comes to your keywords you have to keep two things in mind, proximity and frequency. These two elements fight against each other and you have to try and find the right balance. If the words are of close proximity in the content, it will look unnatural and Google may think your site is spam, however if your keyword is not used enough the program will have trouble understanding the general theme of your site.

This is a very basic understanding of how search engines rank your pages and how to optimise your pages for the main engines. You will have to apply all elements of seo to see major results.

There is a common misconception in the SEO world that tells us, in order to rank highly in Google we must be getting links from high pagerank sites that are relevant to our content and theme. This is correct to a certain extent but I am skeptical about the real importance. I have seen sites rank for highly competitive keywords without the high pagerank links we all believe we must get.

In my opinion relevance is the key to getting the perfect Google SEO link. Making sure your links are as relevant as possible will ensure you are gaining the maximum amount of effort from your Google efforts. In this article I want to talk a little about creating this relevancy and using it to benefit our sites.

The first step is choosing our keywords, pretty straightforward really, the second step is to take that keyword, optimise our page and the elements within it. The third step is to build the links, so what are we looking for.

The first thing to look for in a link is to get it from a page that is relevant to your content and when I say relevant I mean as relevant as possible. Does the title of the particular page your have found include the keywords you are looking for? Is the keyword used within the body of the site, in the images, are there other links to sites that have similar content to your own? If so then this is a good page to be targeting, regardless of the pagerank.

The second aspect you need to ensure is there, is your anchor text. The text you use to link back to your site. This text needs to be optimized with your chosen keywords. This is a powerful technique which is far more important to get right, even above Pagerank. Optimising your anchor text is the most important aspect of any link building you do and will yield results quicker.

There are few rules you will need to use with regards to optimizing you anchor text, don’t simply anchor every single one of your links with the exact same anchor text, use different variations that include the keywords you are looking to be ranked for. If you do not do this your site may be flagged and penalized.

Follow these simple rules and your links will be as effective as they possibly can be and you will soon see results in your ranking within Google. Get as many of these links as you can and you will dominate your keyword term.

Privacy Policy for linkbuildingcentral.blogspot.com

The privacy of our visitors to linkbuildingcentral.blogspot.com is important to us.

At linkbuildingcentral.blogspot.com, we recognize that privacy of your personal information is important. Here is information on what types of personal information we receive and collect when you use and visit linkbuildingcentral.blogspot.com, and how we safeguard your information. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Log Files

As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Shaw Cable), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site.

Cookies and Web Beacons

We do use cookies to store information, such as your personal preferences when you visit our site. This could include only showing you a popup once in your visit, or the ability to login to some of our features, such as forums.

We also use third party advertisements on linkbuildingcentral.blogspot.com to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP , the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).

DoubleClick DART cookies

We also may use DART cookies for ad serving through Google’s DoubleClick, which places a cookie on your computer when you are browsing the web and visit a site using DoubleClick advertising (including some Google AdSense advertisements). This cookie is used to serve ads specific to you and your interests (”interest based targeting”). The ads served will be targeted based on your previous browsing history (For example, if you have been viewing sites about visiting Las Vegas, you may see Las Vegas hotel advertisements when viewing a non-related site, such as on a site about hockey). DART uses “non personally identifiable information”. It does NOT track personal information about you, such as your name, email address, physical address, telephone number, social security numbers, bank account numbers or credit card numbers. You can opt-out of this ad serving on all sites using this advertising by visiting http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/dart_adserving.aspx

You can choose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.

Deleting cookies does not mean you are permanently opted out of any advertising program. Unless you have settings that disallow cookies, the next time you visit a site running the advertisements, a new cookie will be added.

Any changes to our privacy policy will be notified on the main blog.

When were thinking about link building it is important not only to think about the PageRank of the page we are linking back from but also the relevance.

For the purposes of Google SEO we need to make sure our links are as relevant as possible and there are a few ways of doing this.

1 – We need to make sure our anchor text relates to the keywords we are targeting

2 – The page pointing to us must include our keyword in the title

3 – If the keyword is not in the title then we must be able to find it in the body content

If these elements are note present PageRank will mean nothing. Relevance is the major determining factor behind where you rank.

Article marketing has been one of the most popular SEO methods around since internet marketing began.

Writing articles is not going to build you high quality, high Page Rank links, but what it is going to do is create highly optimised links. Why?

You get to write the content, you can optimise your articles for your main keywords and ensure your links are anchored and targeted.

The way you rank high in the Google serps is to build keyword authority, article marketing is excellent for accomplishing this goal.
